Carer Required for Boy with Autism – Blockhouse Bay
We are looking for a caring and kind babysitter/caregiver for our seven year old son who has mild Autism and ADHD – work will be every second Saturday. You’ll be required for approximately four hours – ideally 12:00pm – 4:00pm (every second Saturday) but these times can be flexible. We are wanting someone that can commit to this role for a while as we do not want too many changes. About the Role: Some understanding of Autism and the differences in behaviour and learning that they struggle with is a must. Our son is very sociable and friendly and loves people and being busy – you will need to be engage with him rather than watch TV. You also must be able to handle some minor meltdowns and be OK with changing nappies. We are in Blockhouse Bay, Require Full License, Experience with Autism, Willingness to Change nappies. Community Advocate Role
Auckland Disability Law (ADL) has an exciting opportunity with our Community Advocate role. This is a permanent full-time position based at our Mangere office, in Auckland.
The Community Advocate is involved in the delivery of ADL’s legal services and work with disabled people, the disability community and our stakeholders. The role will: Undertake legal education work, Contribute to ADL’s law reform programme, Support the legal case work, Work within our community engagement and legal information projects.
We would love to hear from you if you have: A strong commitment to social justice, particularly in the area of disability, Demonstrated experience of working in an advocacy or legal service environment, Knowledge of the Disability and Deaf communities, cultures and issues, Education session development and facilitation skills, Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
Well-developed planning, problem solving, analytical and organisational skills, ADL is a community law centre (CLC). We are the only CLC in Aotearoa New Zealand which solely works with disabled people and the disability community around disability related legal issues. Deaf Interpreter Required – Flat Bush
My dad is 57 and can no longer speak due to medial issues, he would like us to learn sign language so we can understand what he is saying to us – he has zero voice (no voice box and has had a total glossectomy – removal and reconstruction of the tongue) Can you help us find a tutor for our family, to come to my dads home in Manukau, The Gardens on a weeknight, say 5-7pm?? or those details could be firmed later. The only other option of an external class that we know of is in Flat Bush on Thursdays nights from 7-9pm for 16 weeks, and thats just too late for us, I have a young family and other commitments as well.
