Housing Hui for Disabled people, their Families, Caregivers and Whanau

Meeting with Ministers Carmel Sepuloni and Kris Faafoi

When: Friday 28th February 2020, 1 – 3pm

Where: Otahuhu Town Hall, High Street, Otahuhu, Auckland

This was livestreamed via our facebook page and also here are the links on youtube – full video or highlights from the day

Housing options for people with disabilities and their families are at crisis point. For people with disabilities and their families who have specific needs and requirements for a home there are simply no options available and few suitable houses planned for construction. Disabled people are living in emergency housing or are forced to live in conditions which are frankly unacceptable.

This issue is not new. In 2017 over ninety parents came together to voice their concerns about the lack of planning and housing available to accommodate the needs of their young and not-so-young disabled adult, with over 100 attending a further meeting hosted by Disability Connect with Minister Twyford and Sepuloni in 2018.

On Friday 28th February 2020 from 1 pm to 3pm at Otahuhu Town Hall, High Street, Otahuhu, Ministers’ Sepuloni and Faafoi will be meeting with people with disabilities, parents, carers/caregivers and whanau to hear what we say.

It is wonderful Ministers Sepuloni and Faafoi will be attending.

All welcome. Make your voice heard.

This Hui is hosted by the Community Housing Collective
